For this unit, I tried to take my viewers on a time line of my life events and the memories associated with things and places. I started by taking pictures of things that reminded me of my childhood memories and moved forward to my memories of high school, college, and even what lies next [New York City].
Hi Allison! I like your construction for your post. I do wish you photos were bigger though. They looks small on my PC monitor. You got a cool concept going here. I like that each picture is a representation of your life and what you hope to achieve in the future. It's a concept we can all relate to and it's cool to see someone else's past through pictures. I like your coloring in this set. The almost black and white photos are very nice and leave just the smallest amount of color in your pictures. The photos that have more color color still retain that vintage vibe we are all going for. Your composition could be better. Some of these photos are too far away from the subject. You should really get in there and take get what you want for the photo. My favorite photo from your set is #16. It has the best composition and use of colors and subject matter.
ReplyDeleteHello Allison,
ReplyDeleteThe construction was good, everything was centered (except #17), numbered, and spaced the same. All your photos have small dimensions though.
Your communication was great. I could really see your life over the years in these photos like you wanted to convey. I think you could have done something a little better than just taking photos of your schools name on the building though.
Your conception was great. You wanted to capture your life from various phases and display them as memories with a vintage look. Some of them were kinda obvious of what the photo was and I think you could have gotten closer to some of the subjects to hide what they really were.
My favorite photo is #3. It's a memory that you have from being a child playing on the swing sets and playground sets.
Hi Allison,
ReplyDeleteThe concept of your pictures is easily understood. You have taken us on a journey through important events in your life. It is heartwarming to see your the dance shoes, your cap and gown, and your car, all representations of how you have grown. You communicated that clearly. I didn't miss the 2016 sunglasses. All of the pictures and numbers were centered with the exception of number 17. It was probably an oversight since the remainder of your presentation was well organized.
Hi Allison! For your construction, all of your pictures are evenly spaced and numbered for the most part, but there are some pictures towards the end that aren’t centered. It would have been nice to have some more variety by adding some horizontal shots, but you did have a variety of close up and zoomed out pictures, so good job! For your communication, your focus on your life journey is very clear and unique. I also graduated high school in 2012 and might be moving to New York City for graduate school, so I enjoyed looking through your photos and seeing some similarities! For the conception of your pictures, it’s clear that all of your pictures contain a lot of important past memories, which is nice because it allows your viewers to get a better sense of who you are. My vote for POW is picture #3 because the color of the grass and the slide really stand out from the rest of the photo. The background almost looks like it’s in black and white, which really adds to the vintage-feel of this picture! It reminds me of the play set I used to play on at my old house.
ReplyDeleteAllison,
ReplyDeleteYour construction is good! I like how you numbered your photos this week, however, toward the end a few pictures aren't centered like the rest. I really liked the communication of your pictures and was able to follow your story throughout. You had a clear idea of what you wanted to display throughout your photos and it was very well communicated. It also showcased the topic of memory very well! I was able to travel through time with you and feel your connections through your photos. My favorite is number nine. Although it appears to be a simple picture, it captures memory the most because I can tell the subject meant a lot to you. These slippers open the door to years of ballet memories and it is shown through this simple picture. Great job!
Hi Allison!
ReplyDeleteform - Mostly they are well-organized. Thanks for making it easy to read each pic's number (except #17 and #18). Your pictures are centered (again except #17 and #18). I understand it is not that easy to center all of them plus check if they all have the same size/font of letter by using your cellphone. I actually wanted to see more horizontal photographs.
content - Your content is your great timeline since you were a baby! Thank you for letting me know about your life. if your pictures are in order of your age, what does picture #17 mean to you? Oh I also am wondering how picture#5 and self-portrait#2 relate to your life.
impact - I was impressed to see the ballet slippers. I could imagine how tough the training was. It was interesting that you uploaded picture#11 since I was wondering how your toes look like now after your ballet experience years ago. Also the first picture was very funny because you taught me the year of you were born in from the building's address or cornerstone. Can you tell me which one? :D
I like picture #9. The slippers shows your training history and that is impressive.
Hi Allison,
ReplyDeleteYour photos for this topic were constructed really well, and you organized your photos fairly cohesively and in a straightforward and easy-to-read fashion. As far as communication, I got a really strong impression of your story and who you are – you captured various milestones that are dear and personal to you, and I appreciate that. However, that might be just a bit too literal for me – there isn't any sense of mystery that Professor Berkowitz was talking about.
Anyway, my favorite from this set is #3. I realize swing=sets for a "vintage/memory" topic are the epitome of expected, but you composed the photograph quite well.
Hey Allison,
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of using vintage/memory in combination with the present and future. A lot of your photos are conceptually strong in that way— the impending nostalgia of graduation, starting a new chapter, etc. All are very present here.
One of my favorite photos of yours is number one. I'm guessing that since your graduating, as I am, that your birth year might be 1994 like me also? If so, that's a pretty subtle way of including a reflection and reminder of the past in the present day.
One thing I think you could work on is your construction. Some of the framing is a little whacky, and maybe could use more of a specific focus. It would only make your photos stronger!
