To shoot and edit my pictures, I used the app Snapseed because I really loved the endless combinations I could create using the "Vintage" and "Grainy Film” filters together. My favorite picture that I took is #7 because of its simplicity and '90s-feel. It reminds me of an old car that I used to own. I used filter 2 in the vintage setting and filter X05 in the grainy film filter to edit it.
Hi Patty! I like your construction for this post. The only problem I have is that the photos are bigger in the preview then in the slideshow version. Your use of color and filters gave the pictures a good vintage feel to them. You might have the best use of low contrast for this assignment. I also like that most of your photos don't have any modern looking items in them. That part of the photos really takes a person to back to another time period. Your subject matter is quite different from everybody else's too. You have some neat looking objects that stick out and differentiate your pictures from one another. My favorite picture is #14. It's hard to tell exactly what it is. My guess is some plants and a light in the background. What sticks out about the picture though is that it looks like some abstract sunset and the moon. Very cool subject matter.
ReplyDeleteHello Patty,
ReplyDeleteThe construction was good, everything was centered, numbered, and spaced the same. Like Jacob said your actual photos are kinda small though.
Your communication was great. I can come up with stories for some of the pictures and see what kind of story you might have been trying to show us.
Your conception was great. Every photo gave off a vintage vibe. Some of them really put me there and let my mind come up with a memory for myself.
My favorite photo is #11. It's really dark and looks exactly what some people might think of as a vintage photo.
Patty,
ReplyDeleteI like your construction evertything is large and centered and easy to read. Some photos are small though and could be bigger.
Your communication was great. I can think of memories you would have attached to each setting and understood what you were trying to get the viewer to feel.
Your conception was also great! I liked the variety of subjects you used and the different filters you combined to get a good vintage vibe. My favorite photo is 6!

Hi Patty!
ReplyDeleteform - They are well-organized and centered. Great you have both vertical and horizontal photographs.
content - Many pictures have old looking objects, but it is great you also took pictures of today's objects like picture#5 and #16. I can feel some mystery from picture#11.
impact - All of your pictures have vintage atmosphere. You said you used different filters for this topic. Did you also use other edit features such as exposure, tint, etc? I can see you did not forget about your color and passion from Picture#2! ;-)
I like picture#5. Today's latte (is it?) in vintage atmosphere. I think it would look old if the newspaper on the table was yesterday's.
Hey Patty! You took some good pictures this week. Your Construction was great. Your pictures were centered, evenly spaced, and numbered. As far as Communication, you did well. I like your use of lighting. It made your pictures appear older. I can also see that you played around with filters. They definitely added to the vintage feel. Finally, I thought you did well with the Conception. I liked the variety of distances, lighting, and color (browns, blues, etc.). It made looking through your blog interesting. I’m torn between pictures 6 and 11 but I’m voting for #11 for the Picture of the Week. The coloring makes it feel like a vintage film (like Wizard of Oz). The road draws my eye through the picture. The crack in the road makes the scene feel older, as well. I also like the dark foreground with the light sky. Awesome job this week!
ReplyDeletePatty,
ReplyDeleteYour construction was great. All your photos were large, centered, and numbered correctly. I think every photo captured the vintage assignment very well, which wasn't easy to do 18 times!
Your communication was great as well. I love how each photo is in a different location, and there's not one that's like another. Your photos are unique and interesting.
Your conception is good. The photos seem to be about places that you love or frequent. Including both outdoors and indoors.
My favorite photo is 18 because there's so much going on and it kept my eye moving.
Hi Patty!
ReplyDeleteYou have a great sense of balance when it comes to the construction of your photos. #12 is a perfect example. You also shot these photos from various perspectives, but mostly straight on.
Your photos provoke a lot of emotion, and resonate with me in all sorts of ways. #7 looks like a photo you would find in an old novel, like one of Edgar Allan Poe's, and makes me think of the twister scene in The Wizard of Oz for some reason. (WAIT, just now seeing someone thought the same - that's awesome, so it must be true!)
As for conception, I think you were going for emotion and memory, like how you said #7 reminds you of an old car you used to own. You're giving your viewers an inside look at the memories you find in everyday life.
My favorite photo is #11. I just can't get over how well it would fit in an older novel, and how well you did editing it to make it look vintage.
