Hi Mary! You have some interesting photos. Your Construction was a little messy. Only photo #1 is centered; the rest are left aligned. I also wish they were numbered. Two of your photos are really large and the others are small. Also, I can’t click on some of your photos (like #2 and #3). Your Communication was good. I like the quirkiness in your photos, like: the unicorns, the disco ball, and the box that looks like a face. It made it really fun to look through your photos. I didn’t know what to expect, which I think goes with the “mystery” theme. Finally, the Conception was done well. I like your use of light, for example: the use of negative space with the dark ceiling and the bits of light from the disco ball (#8). My vote for Picture of the Week is #10 (person walking in the snow). I like the white negative space; it makes the dark shoes and pants pop. I think this fits the “mystery” theme because I don’t know where this person is going or what they are carrying. Good job!
Hey Mary, The construction needs a little work as the photos aren't numbered and only the first photo is centered. Your communication was good. There is a mix of random photos and some more traditional style photos. I was able to see what each photo was though without being completely clueless. Your conception was good. You made use of many different things (lights, space, angles. The photo of the city was taken a couple floors above street view, but not so far up you were looking down, I like it. My favorite photo is #11 (box in the snow.) I like that the box kind of has a face and a beer bottle near it, as if the box was drinking.
Hi Mary, To improve your construction, you should add a caption at the bottom in the app, I found that this centers the photos automatically. Also, for the next assignment you should number them and add a short description of what apps you used. As far as communication goes, I really like the diversity of your shots. Some were easier to interpret than others, but I think you really captured the "mystery" aspect of the assignment in every photo. Your conception was really good. I like how some shots were outside and some were inside. I like how all the photos are approached from a different angle. My favorite photo is the one with the box in the snow. I like the face on the box and the shadow it casts.
Hi Mary! I really like photo #9! To improve construction I would organize your photos with numbers and center them so they flow as you scroll through your blog. I enjoyed the different photos and how each one differentiated from the one before. I really like the pictures and #8 and #9 reminded me of dancing or being on a dance floor, something I did for many years. I really like the shadowing of #9 and found it very mysterious. I thought the lighting in all you pictures pulled my eyes in on each picture for more than just a second.
Hi Mary! Your pictures look great, but it would have been a little easier to follow if they were numbered! I really like the message that your pictures are communicating! They seem to give a sense of quirkiness and an eclectic feel. I especially like the photo with the disco ball! I like to strongly contrast my photos as well and I like how you captured the different lighting. All together great work!
Construction: First you need to number each picture and center them. Also give some spaces between each picture.
Communication: I enjoy to see your life in a big city and at home. Having a meal picture make me feel happy. Reminds me of communicating with people I love.
Conception: Your club pictures? are very mysterious. I like them because I can't tell where it is and who they are (from their arms and hands!)
I'd say your photos have the greatest variation in construction. You have a lot going on in some photos, but in others you have one singular subject with content in the background.
In terms of communication, I'm not quite sure if there's something you're trying to communicate in your photos specifically. I am curious about all of your photos, though. I think sometimes people associate mystery with very dark shadows, but your photos show that you can be mysterious using lighter tones as well.
In terms of conception, and referring back to my first statement about your photos' communication, I think your photos are very eclectic, which I like. It shows me that you could be in a dark place with a disco ball one day, and home eating dinner with your family the next - it reminds me of the saying, "there are two sides to every story."
My favorite photo is your second self portrait. I love the way you used this sort of cut out to hide your face, only revealing your eyes. It makes me wonder what you're looking at.
The stark contrasts in all of your photos are incredibly striking. I find myself drawn to the crisp lines and angles present within your second photo, and I find your last photo to really embody the "mystery" element the most. Like some of our classmates, I was a bit thrown off by the inconsistent sizing and arrangement of your photos within the post, but I can understand that Blogger is a difficult thing to maintain layout/arrangement aspects within. That said, it did impair the way I engaged with your images.
Regardless, I can't wait to see what you shoot next!
