All pictures I have taken so far are based on my curiosity in my daily life. Every small thing that got my attention is on each picture. I edited pictures to change tint, duotone, brightness & contrast, highlights & shadows, and sharpen to put more mystery. I, however, also focus on keeping what each stuff has so you can feel something when you see them - especially texture. I use my iPhone and an app called Camera+. I use the same app to edit pictures.
Picture 12 makes great use of black and white to create mystery. The texture of the photo and object don't help when trying to guess what it is. Is it snow, is it water, is it a lava lamp? Good job.
ReplyDeleteHi Mayuko! You have some nice photos. Your Construction is well done. Your photos are centered, evenly spaced, and numbered. As far as Communication, you did well. I liked the city feel in some of your photos. It was interesting to follow and see where you go. I didn’t know where you were, which went with the “mystery” theme. Your Conception was good. The use of light helped create the sense of mystery in some of your photos, for example: the statue in #9. I also like the variety of close-up and far-away pictures. It made it interesting to look through your pictures. It also helped with the idea of mystery. Finally, my vote for Picture of the Week is #4. It is a really interesting picture. The dark buildings contrast the light sky. I also don’t know who those people are or where they are going, which works with the “mystery” theme. Good job overall!
ReplyDeleteHello Mayuko,
ReplyDeleteThe construction is good. Everything was centered, numbered and spaced out.
Your communication was good. I can see that you took them while walking around your daily life but still made them mysterious. You got up close to some things or took a photo that was not easily identifiable by what was shown.
Your conception was good. The photos were about you seeing the city and how light can make things mysterious.
My favorite photos are your two self-portraits. I like that one is without makeup and then the other has makeup by you switch sides.
Hi Mayuko,
ReplyDeleteYour construction was great. Everything was centered and spaced out very well. Your communication was good. I like how a lot of photos were closeup, this adds to the mystery aspect of the assignment. Some things were hard to decipher, but it's good to get your audience thinking. Your conception was great, all the photos had a very urban feel to them, showing both the industrial and artistic sides of a city. My favorite photo was eight because what you're holding looks really interesting, and I'm still not entirely sure what they are.
Hi Mayuko! Your construction is good. All of your pictures are centered, numbered, and spaced out. I think it would have been a little easier to follow if the numbers appeared above the pictures instead of below them though. For your communication, you did great! I had a hard time trying to decipher some of your pictures, especially pictures #8 and #12. Picture #1 definitely resonated with me because I take the train everyday to school. In terms of conception, I like that you focused on pictures that caught your attention because picture #8 (POW) definitely did for me. The texture of the object left me in awe. I also like that you can see the entire object and yet it’s still a complete mystery as to what it actually is.
ReplyDeleteHi Mayuko!
ReplyDeleteThe construction of your photos is awesome! Your subjects are framed well and you show some very unique angles. I like that there is not just one singular subject in your photos. There's context so viewers can get a sense of where you are.
In terms of communication - these pictures show that you are on the move and interested in the not-so-typical, which i can 100% relate to. Photo #3 reminds me so much of the past, and I really, really love that you were able to catch the world looking like that in an instant.
In terms of conception, I want to know about what's happening in every photo you've shot. What are you building, or who is building something (photo #2)? Has damage been done in photo #6, or are the elements of the photo just remains laying around Philly? Great sense of mystery, and it shows that you're curious about life around you.
My favorite photo is #9. You can see how you positioned yourself to get each shot, including this one. You framed the statue, building, and sun just right to create a photograph that flows well together, and makes the viewer wonder what statue that is exactly in the city.
Hey, your pictures are great! The construction is very easy to follow and provides a good map for readers. All of your pictures convey he message of mystery very well! Many of them made me take a second look in order to understand what was going on in the picture. You used lighting and contrast very well also, which truly made your subjects pop! My favorite picture is number 11. This one spoke to me in the sense that I feel the most mysteriousness through the light open space! Great work!
ReplyDeleteMayuko,
ReplyDeleteYour images tell a lot about you as a photographer – I presume you like to get closer up to things? That's pretty bold! I wish you'd had taken some sharper images, as some of them are a bit fuzzy, and I find myself wondering whether I can't tell what your pictures are because of their mysteriousness, or because perhaps they're just not clarified enough. Regardless, they have a lot of contrast to them gives them a dynamic element that has me really drawn into them. Your post is all centered and numbered, which is great!
Hi Mayuko,
ReplyDeleteI like the tonality of your photos - there are a lot of bright white and dark blacks that make your photos more effective than some of the others I've seen so far. I think 12 might be my favorite of yours because of the tonality and the mystery it gives - it sort of looks like the texture of a statue, but I guess I'll really never know unless I reach out to you personally. I can tell that you focused on getting detail shots, which is great and totally fits in the concept of mystery that we had to focus on this week!
