The darkness of photo 10 really sets a dark and mysterious mood for that photo. Even the light in the picture doesn't light up that much space. The softer contrast of the photo blends in some of the darker areas to make it all look like one dark space too.
Hi Judith! The construction of your pictures was different – I like that they were all together, but I think it would be easier to view if they were centered. Also, the numbering of the pictures is a little hard to follow. In terms of communication, I was able to tell what the pictures were, but not where it actually takes place, which I thought was really mysterious. I like that you took pictures of your everyday surroundings because that’s what I did as well in my pictures. It was cool to see my everyday environments from a new perspective. The conception of your pictures was done well. I like the overall theme of city streets. Also, I like that you branched out and went from a couple of items indoors to the outdoors. Although the areas are in a relatively close proximity to each other, your pictures all turned out to be quite different from each other, which I thought was pretty cool! I’m voting for #1 as picture of the week because it’s the most mysterious out of the bunch. The lighting in some areas makes it look metallic, while in other areas it looks wooden. I feel like it’s some type of instrument, but I just can’t seem to identify it!
Hi Judith, The construction just needs to have your pictures centered and some better spacing between pictures. Your communication was good. I can clearly see what each photo is and it should really connect with everyone as we see streets and buildings everyday. Your conception was great. I like that all the photos seem to be of your surrounding area outside and inside and tell us the story of what you might see on a normal day. There seems to be some white line on the right side of some of them though and it's a little distracting. My favorite photo is #14. The lighting on the side of the street the photo was taken is bright and the other side would be dark if not for the inside lights.
Judith, Your construction is good, but could be improved if you centered your photos and also centered the number at the top of each photo. Your communication was great. Some photos could be read better than others, but the point of this assignment was to take photos with an air of mystery so I think you did a good job. I like how the first two photos were closeup, but I think your outdoor photos could benefit by getting closer up to your subject in a few shots. There seemed to be a lot of photos of the street, and you could've tried approaching these from a different angle. Your conception was great. The photos seem like they might be taken on the path you take to get home or to school each day. I felt like I was traveling with you as I was scrolling though the photos. My favorite photo is number 10, I really like how the tree appears to be framing the buildings.
Construction: All pictures should be centered. There should be some space between two pictures. Communication: Pictures 1 and 10 interest me. About 1 I would like to know what it is. About 10 it's just black and white, dark and light, so it is some mystery I can't see the shape of the building. Conception: Probably you took pictures of things around you in your daily life? Good you share your life with me without any words. I would like to see black and white version of your picture 2.
My fav pic is #1. The reason is simple. I have never seen it in my life and my curiosity is getting big!
Hi Judith! I really enjoyed your pictures! The composition would have been better if you centered your photos, it would have made it more visually appealing. I liked how you used different viewpoints and angles for you photos. The variety kept me wanting to see more. I also like how he lighting of your pictures varied. It seems like you like to take pictures of ordinary things but they still provide a sense of mystery, which is what I like to do too. My favorite picture is number 11! I really like how the tree contrasts again the sky and how it is the object in focus. The angle you got really captures the interesting bend of the tree!
Like some of the other classmates, I wish you'd centered your photos within the post; I also wish you'd given a bit more clarity to the images themselves. Your various camera perspectives gave a dynamic element to the images; however, I wish you'd been a bit more adventurous with this particular assignment – black and white tends to give you a lot more ways to play with shapes and angles and lighting. Like some of the other classmates, some of your photos not being in black and white kind of threw me off and made me a bit less engaged in your post :/ Anyway, I really liked image #10 – the tree is framed in a really interesting way that had me looking at it for quite some time.
The thing I like about your photos is that I sort of feel like I'm going on a walk with you - maybe that was a concept you worked on. I can tell in these that you sort of snapped about with your phone whenever something caught your eye. That automatically creates interest for me, because I tend to do something similar with my smartphone photos. However, I would suggest having a little more focus on the construction - no diagonal photos, and try not to use zoom! It's a lot more effective when you walk up to a subject and get a steady, detailed shot of it. For instance, you could have done this with #12 just by walking closer to the building and taking a close-up photo of the detail of the rock texture. There's also not a ton of mystery going on with these. But I really do like #1 just because I have no idea what that is!
