Notes
All photos were taken with my OnePlus One (Android) using the Snapdragon Camera. I used Pixlr and Snapseed to edit them. Pixlr was better for toning and Snapseed was better for plain black and white.

  1. Number 9 is interesting because the size of the picture is small, but it conveys the understanding that there is much more.Kevin has managed capture the fire pointing up going and some of the logs standing up. The fact that there is darkness surrounding the fire makes it stand out more. It makes the entire picture eerie. This picture is about smaller logs being consumed first and the larger ones later, but in the end, they all will be destroyed.

  3. Hi Kevin! You took some cool photos. I thought your Construction was good. Your pictures were centered, evenly spaced, and easy to follow. I wish they were a little larger though. As far as Communication, I enjoyed your nature photos. I also thought your pictures gave a secluded feel. They made me feel isolated, which I think goes with the “mystery” theme. Finally, I thought the Conception was well done. I like that you took the photos from a distance, which created the isolated feeling. My vote for Picture of the Week is a tie between #4 and #7. I like #4 because it is not a typical beauty shot of snow. The beat up van and shed in the back give the photo interest. For #7, I like the negative white space. It really makes the tree pop. I also like that the tree is off-center. Great job!

  4. Kevin,
Your construction was great. All your photos were spaced and centered well. They could benefit from all being the same size. I like how you included a description at the bottom of what apps you used. Your communication was good, I could tell what every photo was. I think you could make the photos more mysterious by switching up the angles of your outdoor photos, and focusing on a different subject or getting closer up to your subject. Your conception was great, I like how most of your photos were outside, but you threw a few indoor ones in the mix to add some diversity. I also like the different tones and contrast you used. My favorite photo is seven, because I like how dark the tree looks against the bright background.

  5. Hi Kevin! Your construction is great. All of your pictures are centered, numbered, and evenly spaced, which made it easy to follow. Your communication is pretty good, but some of your pictures were a little too easy to decipher. Your most mysterious picture and my vote for picture of the week is #1. It’s different than all of your other pictures and it made me think about why those two main objects are placed the way they are. For the conception of your pictures, your overall theme seems to be the outdoors with a couple of indoor pictures. I like that all of your edits are so different from one another. Although you have several black and white and tonal pictures, the edits you made still vary from each other and it doesn’t look like you used the same setting for each picture.

  6. Hi Kevin!

Your subjects are framed well in your photos in terms of construction, showing subjects from both up close and further away.

In terms of communication - some of these photos are obvious, but others make me wonder where all the people are because they look like locations that would have some sort of foot traffic. Photo #2 reminds of the cloudy thoughts I have on rainy days, or the kind of mood I'm in on rainy days, wanting to stay inside all day.

In terms of conception, it looks like you were going for very eerily quiet shots and settings, which I like because it definitely hits the mystery nail on the head.

My favorite photo is #7. The tree contrasts so well against the white landscape, and because of the way you've framed it, makes me wonder how long the tree's branches reach.

  7. Construction: Good everything is centered and same spaces between pictures. Also it is wonderful you took both vertical and horizontal pictures!

Communication: I can see beautiful scenery of nature from most of your pictures. But I want more mystery!

Conception: Most pictures have wide view so I enjoyed the lonely part of each scene. Next time I would like to see something being taken very close to an object.

My fav picture is 7. I feel loneliness a lot from the picture.

  8. Kevin,

These images flow really well together and, in a way, succeed in telling a narrative as I scroll through. They're all extremely cohesive as a collection of images, which is really great. There's this sense of melancholy in your images that are more mysterious than anything else, especially to the first two images; my favorite would have to be #2.

  9. Hi Kevin,

I think your best photos are #1 and #6. 1 is good because it tells me something quirky about you that I might not know about just by meeting you in-person: you (or someone you are comfortable photographing around) dry shoes with the air of a space heater. That is honestly your best photo, because it has the most candid personality. I also like 6 because it has a nice s-curve, which might be a good place to incorporate some mysterious subject on whether at the top of it, or the bottom. The rest of your photos aren't quite mysterious, although 10 has a nice texture that caught my eye.
