Self-portrait #1

Self-portrait #2
Self-portrait #3

Note
Though I often find something unique and weird in life and like them very much, it was not easy at all to take a good photograph of each. I uploaded some photographs you chose as best from the very first blog. This time, I used an app called "Relight" and edited all new photographs. During editing them I did not forget 3 concepts we learned from this class, Black and White, Color and Passion, Vintage and Memory. Also, I took square shape pictures, too.
Because I do not like selfies, I could not take good ones most of the time. I uploaded one of my favorite and two brand new ones. I am not half-Japanese (I am Japanese), but I found the record of a punk band called Half Japanese and wanted to take a selfie with it. You finally can see my big smile on self-portrait #3. My very happy moment.
Mayuko,
ReplyDeleteI couldnt tell what your sections were for the final portfolio. But I really like your pictures. I like how you included each concept from class in your portfolio, Black and White, Color, and Vintage. I also like the square pictures. I think my favorite is picture 12. Great work!
Hi Mayuko! For your construction, all of your pictures are centered and evenly spaced and you have a mixture of horizontal and vertical pictures. However, it would have been nice to see them broken up by chapters to get a better feel of how the pictures are related. For your communication, you have a mixture of pictures that can and can’t be easily read. You have a couple of pictures that look like you went traveling recently, which resonated with me because I love to visit new places. I just went to Greece for the first time two summers ago and I absolutely loved it. For the conception of your pictures, you have a wide range of pictures. You have pictures in Philly, in your home, etc. Travel seems to be your overall theme. My vote for picture of the year is picture #15. It always makes me stop and do a double take to look at the mountains that I missed the first time I looked at the picture. The blue tint just makes it look so serene and comforting. Great job!
ReplyDeleteHey Mayko,
ReplyDeleteYou didn't create chapters, but I think I can see a theme throughout the whole portfolio. It seems like it's a giant photo reel of your surroundings and what you see everyday. My favorite photo is #20. The glass and rain just come together so well to distort the background.
Mayko. Congratulations on a great semester! I really enjoyed your final portfolio. I especially like how big all the pictures are. My favorite photo is number five because the construction is great but it also has a very deep meaning and a sense of mystery.
ReplyDeleteHi there!
ReplyDeleteYou have a lot of pictures, and a lot of great ones to share in your final portfolio! The first word that comes to mind is unique. I think throughout the semester it's clear to see that you notice things others don't, no matter how obvious they may be, like in #21. I am really intrigued by #19 because of how you faded it, and because I have no idea what it is, and the only thing you leave your viewer to guess with is a texture. You're good at shooting photos that make your audience look deeper. I'm torn, but I think my photo of the year is #15. You worked with the lighting you had a created a frame within a frame, and it's a very peaceful shot. Great job this semester!
Hi Mayuko! Awesome job this semester! I really enjoyed looking through your final portfolio. You had some great pictures. I like that you numbered your pictures but you didn’t place them into chapters/sections. Even though there weren’t chapters, I still felt like you took me on a journey with you. I like that you included a variety of subjects, distances, and angles. It was hard to choose but my favorite picture of the year goes to Picture # 20. I voted for this picture in a past blog and I still love it. You created a great sense of dimension by having the glass, then the rain, then the building, and finally the sky. The layers really added to the photo. I also love that it is monochromatic. Really awesome job!
ReplyDeleteHi Mayuko! Great job this semester. I like this set not for it's exploratory qualities but for the fact that it's like I'm looking at life through your eyes. It's more like you took pictures of stuff you've seen laying around in the wild and said, hey that's cool, imma take a picture of it. It's a very innocent feeling to all of your pictures. I like that your coloring and composition is all over the place. It's not cohesive but it doesn't have to be. You've got a unique quality to your photos that I really like. My choice for picture of the year is #28. That's so weird, that it's hard to believe it's real.

ReplyDeleteHi Mayuko,
ReplyDeleteI appreciate your pictures. My favorite in this group is #22, We Buy Spouses. That's really funny. Noticing that sign and taking the picture reveals that you have an eye for the unusual. I'm glad I got to see through your lens this semester.
Numbers 13 and 25 are incredible.
