| Technical Notes: | I used a Samsung Galaxy s5 to take these photos, and for the last few a Samsung Galaxy s7. I really enjoy the filters on Snapseed, so a lot of my new photos, and photos in general are edited using that app. To tell my story, I decided to name my chapters in a way that communicates what I'm interested in, which is a variety of things, like simple things, creativity, the past, coffee, etc. I tried to give my viewers a look at my life, the things in it, and what I notice while out in the world on a daily basis.
Awesome work this semester! I really enjoyed looking at and exploring your photos this semester and especially in this final portfolio! Your pictures have a way of sparking something in me which creates excitement and questioning. I often find myself giving your photos a double take. I like how you organized this portfolio and how well all the pictures flowed together. My favorite is #6 in explore everything. I love how you took the photo straight on but the trees frame the light beautifully and the picture has such dimension. Great job!

ReplyDeleteHi Francesca! In terms of your construction, all of your pictures are centered and evenly spaced and you have a variety of horizontal and vertical pictures. For your communication, you did great! I really enjoyed all of the chapter titles that you came up with. They were simple, yet effective and all of the pictures you chose fit into those chapters perfectly. I especially enjoyed the “The Past is a Curious Thing” chapter because several of the pictures resonated with me. I try to use my polaroid camera as often as I can, so your polaroid as a young girl really resonated with me. Also, your picture of the vintage camera reminded me of my trip to Greece a couple of summers ago. I went to visit my uncle who lives in Athens and he gave me an old Kodak camera that looks similar to the one you photographed. My vote for picture of the year would be your second picture in “The Past is a Curious Thing” chapter. I just love the way you edited the picture to make it look vintage. It really looks like it could be set in a different time period. In terms of the conception of your pictures, your chapters do a really good job of describing what the pictures are about. It’s clear that you wanted to capture exploration, memories, simplicity, caffeine, and creativity. I’ve really enjoyed all of the different angles that you’ve used to shoot your pictures this semester – creativity really does run through you!
ReplyDeleteHey Francesca,
ReplyDeleteI actually like that you didn't number things (the photos and the chapters). It really makes it simple and clean looking. My favorite photo is #1 of Explore Everything. It just looks really cool and I find torn apart buildings interesting.
Hi Francesca, congratulations on a great semester! I love your final portfolio. I like how all your photos were taken across several different locations. It appears you like to explore a lot, me too! Photo of the year for me is number 5 under "the past is a curious thing" because there's so much going on and it keeps the eye busy.
ReplyDeleteHey Francesca! You did an awesome job this semester! I really liked looking through your final blog. There were a lot of great photos throughout your chapters and I thought the titles described the sections very well. You also gave a nice variety of objects and scenes. I wish you numbered the pictures though because it would make it easier to reference the picture. It was hard to choose but my favorite picture of the year goes to Picture #6 under the “Explore Everything” Chapter. It is a really beautiful, serene picture. The green grass just pops and the tree create a nice visual frame. Really great job!
ReplyDeleteHey Francesca! Awesome pictures in this set. Your editing, composition, colors, and pretty much everything is excellent. I like your chapter titles and they fit the theme of the pictures nicely. I like that you gave us a little bit of everything but at the same time I get this nostalgic vibe from all of your pictures. Maybe old timey is a better word. The colors, and editing give the photos that feel and the subject matter is very earthly, if that makes much sense. Good job. My choice of picture of the year goes to the spiral staircase. The way you shot and edited that photo make it look like it came out of the early 1900s. Great photo and awesome work all semester.
ReplyDeleteHi Francesca! I can see that you are very good at focusing on each object. Some have dynamic three-dimensional impacts. Every picture from "The Past is a Curious Thing" shows vintage, memory, black and white, and some mystery. I have many pictures I like so it was very hard for me to choose one. Okay, the best one is the 5th photograph of "Explore Everything." Though the building itself is unique and artistic (Kimmel Center?) you edited it very mysterious.
